Issue 18 ยท Crosswalk
Principle and Process
Which structural claims lean on outside sources, which are the essay's own synthesis, and where the limits sit.
Reference Dependency Crosswalk
This connects claims to outside pressure, not to certainty.
For every Structure claim, this table shows whether Reference supplies outside-world support or marks the dependency as synthesis, scope limit, or process boundary.
| Structure claim | Outside support | Reference | What it does and does not cover |
|---|---|---|---|
| SL-018-01 The fight is two questions: membership principle and process. | Structural / synthesis | RL-018-01 | The decision and its aftermath supply the occasion; the two-level split is the essay's frame, not a cited fact. |
| SL-018-02 Both sides' cores are statistics-free absolutes, stated in parallel. | Satisfied, with scoping limits | RL-018-01 | The dissents and the holding supply the strongest advocates' own texts, alongside the named 1985 book; the parallel staging is the essay's, and not everyone on each side holds the absolute form. |
| SL-018-03 The restriction program's reach is stated in its own instruments. | Satisfied | RL-018-02, RL-018-03, RL-018-04, RL-018-05 | The order, the bills, and the amendment call state the reach; the estimates size it at medium confidence. The sources do not adjudicate the selling language around it. |
| SL-018-04 The line-jump is priced two ways: family and infant. | Partly satisfied | RL-018-01, RL-018-06 | Enforcement sources support the fraud-scheme framing; the sponsorship-timing mechanics are summarized statutory background rather than separately linked. |
| SL-018-05 The day-after twin proves too much; birthplace is the best available line. | Structural / theory-supported | RL-018-08 | Comparative material shows other lines exist and carry their own edges; the proves-too-much argument and the administrability defense are the essay's synthesis. |
| SL-018-06 Fiscal and political bounds are temporal, not total. | Satisfied, with typing limits | RL-018-05, RL-018-07 | The fiscal record supports the long-run finding for children of immigrants broadly; the projection keeps its constant-behavior assumption; neither models the precise contested class. |
| SL-018-07 Four options; three engage the holding, one works around it. | Satisfied, with judgment limits | RL-018-01, RL-018-02 | The vote structure creates the three direct paths and the closed executive route; the feasibility labels and the workaround category's cost accounting are the essay's judgment. |
| SL-018-08 The floor holds at the process level until changed at the constitutional level. | Satisfied as law; argued as principle | RL-018-01 | The holding supports the current-law statement; the ordering argument — supermajority placement outranks bare-majority preference — is the essay's synthesis, and the essay owns that process is not neutral. |
| SL-018-09 Process is not proof. | Structural, not external | This record | The public record exposes pressure and choices; it does not make the claims true. The published close carries its own falsifiers. |
