Am I Building? — Reference Dependency Crosswalk
How the Structure layer and the Reference layer line up, claim by claim.
Reference Dependency Crosswalk
Layer 1 (Structure) names the load-bearing claims. Layer 2 (Reference) says what outside the prose could have changed each one. This table connects them: for every Structure claim, whether Reference supplies outside-world support — or marks the dependency unresolved. “Unresolved / bounded” is not a failure; it is an honest label for a claim that rests on testimony or structure rather than public evidence.
| Structure claim | Outside support | Reference | What it does & doesn’t cover |
|---|---|---|---|
| SL-014-01 Feeling of progress is a poor guide; the felt sense can diverge from the measured one. | Satisfied, with limits | RL-014-01, RL-014-02 | Supports the felt-vs-measured split — not the reader’s odds or all AI building. |
| SL-014-02 The three payoffs differ by visibility and timing, not moral worth. | Partly satisfied | RL-014-03 | External-adoption rarity is supported only as AI-agnostic base-rate context; worth judgments stay outside Reference. |
| SL-014-03 The self-checks are tells and nudges, not verdicts. | Unresolved / bounded | RL-014-05, RL-014-06 | The practical tells are structurally bounded; no public evidence validates them as predictors. |
| SL-014-04 Rarity and the feeling/fact gap are separate explanations. | Partly satisfied | RL-014-03, RL-014-04 | Base-rate rarity and quality bottlenecks constrain the claim; AI distinctiveness stays a hypothesis. |
| SL-014-05 Absorption is needed for real building and is exactly what hollow building feels like. | Partly satisfied | RL-014-04 | Reference supports bottleneck persistence, not the full absorption mechanism; the novelty-fades falsifier stays open. |
| SL-014-06 The relational question is more readable from inside than the meaning question. | Bounded — not publicly evidenced | RL-014-06 | Structurally important, but evidenced only by general logic and private substrate. |
| SL-014-07 People close to you can report your absence, not the worth of the work. | Bounded — not publicly evidenced | RL-014-06 | Public-safe only as a diagnostic frame; the private witness material stays private. |
| SL-014-08 “Lifetime value uncertainty” can act as a brake — one person’s testimony. | Unresolved / bounded | RL-014-05, RL-014-06 | First-person testimony; whether it is ‘enough’ is external and shows over time. |
| SL-014-09 The central question is about meaning, not bare existence. | Satisfied — live demonstration | RL-014-07 | Outside pressure (a reader’s objection) changed the published wording after publication. |
Row labels (SL-014-… / RL-014-…) are just pointers that let the Structure and Reference pages reference each other. This crosswalk is constraint-mapping, not proof: a satisfied dependency means a claim was exposed to outside support, not that the claim is true.
